• Use you SNMP browser to check if there is a backup file linked to the MS
module using the object:
mgnt2CnfManageConfigFilesTable

• If necessary (i.e. if the backup file is absent), create a backup file setting “on”
the object:
mgnt2CnfBackupConfig associated with the slot number where the
MS module is being replaced.

• Verify that the wrist strap you are wearing is properly grounded or that
other antistatic measures are in place
• Take the necessary steps to minimise the impact on your network, traffic by-
pass re-route etc.
• Disconnect any cables connected to the Line and the client ports on the
module
• Using a flat head screwdriver loosen the two holding screws on the
frontplate, located at the top right-hand and bottom left-hand corners
• Pull the module out of the chassis, unplugging the backplane connectors,
and set aside
• Line up the replacement module with the rails and gently slide in, plugging
in the backplane connectors
Do not force the module into place as this could lead to damage to the connectors on
the module and/or the connectors on the back panel of the chassis.
• Re-connect cables to the Line and the client ports on the module
• Observe behaviour of LEDs
• Check the module has been correctly detected by the MGNT board using the
object:
mgnt2GigmBoardTable

• If a backup file is dedicated to the slot number in the MGNT management
board, the configuration of the MS module is automatically updated,
identical to the one saved previously
• It is recommended to perform a cold reset of the MS module
• Perform a full inventory on the module
• Re-integrate into your network
